In this area the landscape became completely flat with an elevation of around 0 due to the proximity to the ocean. Skeidararsandur is place where the glacial rivers widened and spread out. The rivers covered and diverged into many tributaries. The impassable rivers became so wide that they were easily fordable in mere inches of water.
