Hike towards Hekla
From happytrees.org
On the Hike towards Hekla we ventured through extremely wide open spaces far far away from civilization. It was a gradual uphill crossing mountains and long valleys. There were many stream crossings but not to many major ones. The ground was covered with moss and small tundra like flowers. Moss is as prevalent as grass is in America. Aside from the moss the ground is covered with rocks ranging from pebbles to an occasional boulder. As we got closer to Hekla the rocks became more and more volcano like.
